Discover Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT) – a proven way to recover from chronic pain. PRT blends pain education, cognitive behavioural therapy, mindfulness practices, and gradual exposure to rewire your brain's response to pain. PRT tackles neuroplastic pain, also referred to as nociplastic pain, with science-backed methods enabling you to reappraise the source of your pain and its threat level.
Neuroplastic pain is a type of pain that persists beyond the expected healing time for an injury or illness, or pain that has originated from an unknown source. Unlike acute pain, which serves as a warning signal for tissue damage or injury, neuroplastic (nociplastic) pain is characterised by changes in the nervous system that result in the amplification and continuation of pain signals.
PRT is effective in providing relief for individuals experiencing chronic back pain. A randomized controlled study published in JAMA Psychiatry (2021) compared PRT and placebo. The results revealed that 66% of participants after engaging in the four-week PRT psychological treatment, were pain-free or nearly pain-free post-treatment. Importantly, the majority of these individuals sustained this relief for up to one year. In 2023 research confirmed the link between the reduction in pain and the changing belief that pain is caused by the brain rather than a structural problem with the body. This change occurred due to the clients practicing pain reprocessing therapy!

Chronic headaches & migraines, chronic jaw and fascial pain, chronic pelvic and bladder pain, back, neck or joint pain, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS/ME) are just some of the common causes of chronic pain affecting a significant portion of the UK population.
Emerging neuroscience reveals that our brains play a crucial role, creating the pain we feel through predictive processing. It's not just about the body part; it's a signal from the brain, highlighting areas needing attention. Delve into the insightful 2022 interview with Dr. Rangan Chatterjee and Howard Schubiner, PRT Medical Advisor, discussing 'The Best Ways to Heal Chronic Pain Without Medication. |
